Actually first day of class was supposed to be yesterday – 6/13/2011 but I was too lazy to go and my mom asked me to stay home because I don’t have umbrella and it was raining. Good thing my dad just agreed with it. So I just stayed and watched Dallas won over Miami.
Okay! So this day was my First day. Time checked – 1st class is 9:00 and it’s a major subject, Psyc110 (Guidance) *Have to find out the name tomorrow ;) Teacher? Uhmm Sir Rey Totoy! Oks. So what we did? Uhmm. A little introduction of the course, about what guidance is really all about and its purpose.
Second. Psyc113 (Physiological Psychology) teacher? Uhmm. Miss Ruby. She was kinda okay I hope. She started a bit by explaining the course outline. She was too techie, she has her blog as well but it’s not updated.
Third, Psyc108 (HBO) I forgot its meaning, teacher is Sir Erwin Cudis. It’s all about Human Resource functions. He said he will deal with it from micro to macro, from an individual to organization. I think he is cool and heard feedback too that he is really cool.
Last, Psyc109 (Psychometrics) I think this is the scariest among them all. Our teacher is Miss Joan Fortich, she is a STEC alumni, I know! ;) And she is scary. She gives orals. Uhmm. Actually we have discussed already. Okayyy Lemme start the recalling.
This is all about Assessments, however it is very different from Test. Difference: Assessment – holistic gauge that measures something howeverTest – it measures a specific factor. Thus, ALL TESTS ARE ASSESSMENT BUT NOT ALL ASSESSMENT SARE TEST.
Then we have discussed the Different types of test,
1. Personality (measures characteristics)
2. Intellegence (Global and not just I.Q)
3. Aptitude (measure the ability of a person to develop skills or acquire)
4. Achievement (Measures the extent of an acquired learning)
5. Interest Inventories (measures preferences, likes/dislikes)
6. Creativity psychological (assess the originality or imagination)
7. Neuropsychological (brain damage/ cognitive perception, sensory perception and motor skills involving brain functioning)
8. Behavioral Procedure (Assessment xa kay -- It can use other types of assessment like Naturalistic observation, etc. Test xa kay -- It measures a specific behavior.)
And yes, she also discuss that PSYCHOMETRICS includes,
a. Classification (Screening and Planning)
b. Diagnosis and Treatment
c. Research
d. Planning
